Unloading or loading a container without a loading dock is possible.
Shipping containers are normally destuffed by backing them in to a loading bay with a loading dock making access to the inside of the container easy for people and forklifts. Sometimes their are situations where no loading dock is available in that case there are two options:
Option #1– Keeping the container on its chassis
Option #2– Placing the container on the ground
Goods from a container on its chassis can be removed by bringing the goods to the edge of the container and using a forklift to pick up the goods for removal. For this process usually a forklift driver will wait for the workers to palletize the goods and bring the goods to the edge of the truck using a hand pallet jack.
A temporary ramp can be used by placing pallets in a stair pattern for easy unloading at the beginning of the container.
Container will arrive on a chassis, to remove the container from the chassis a crane would be required. Once removed from the chassis the container can be places at ground level, allowing for easy destuffing of the container.
