Increase in Warehouse Jobs help labor market Number Pre Virus

Both the USA and Canada are showing huge growth in the warehouse job sector

USA Adding Logistics Jobs

The pandemic has increased the amount of consumer shopping via e-commerce, supply chain companies are adding temporary and full time employees for this increase in demand. DHL is adding 7,000 seasonal employees, XPO Logistics will add 25,000 positions, FedEx is adding 70,000, UPS and Amazon each plan to add 100,000 employees ahead of peak season, United Parcel Service Inc. is adding more than 100,000 seasonal workers and FedEx plans to hire 75,000.

Canada Adding Logistics Jobs

Canadian ecommerce retailers and distribution centers are seeing an increase in the amount of orders they have been receiving since the pandemic. Because of this increase companies like Canada Post, XPO Logistics, DB Schenker, Amazon and Walmart are hiring more workers for their warehouses. With a new Wal Mart distribution center opening this year in Vancouver, BC thousands of jobs are going to be available just in a single location.

People are still Shopping

The pandemic has not slowed the appetite of Americans and Canadians to shop. What the pandemic has done is changed the way they shop, moving from brick and mortar shopping to online shopping.

Will this hiring continue?

Consumers spent $861.12 billion online with U.S. merchants in 2020, up an incredible 44.0% year over year, according to Digital Commerce 360 estimates.

The trend is that Consumers will spend $900 Billion in 2021 and over a trillion in 2022. If estimates come to fruition hiring in the logistics industry will continue to increase.
